View original topic: thermostat flap rod clip help

Does anyone know the Technical name for the little factory clip the attaches
the thermostat rod to the flap assembly? Or better yet where one might find these in the U.S? I can't fine anything doing an internet search of my local hardware store as I don't even know what to call the thing. Kinda looks like a E clip but totally enclosed with no opening on the side.
thanks in advance.

Thanks....never would have come up with that. And let me just add as by re reading my question I realize there might be a little confusion about what I'm talking about ( totally based on my poor explanation). I'm looking for the clip that holds the push rod that is physically attached to the thermostat to the lower flap cured metal clip to keep the push rod from falling out of flap assembly.
Thanks

Googling "tinnerman clip" comes up with nothing resembling the correct part. Try "push nut" instead.
Original VW part no. was 113-119-249, which has the odd description "external-tooth lock washer" in my VW parts book. Seems
something got lost in the translation! There's also this, which may or may not fit the stock rod: https://www2.cip1.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=VWC-040-119-249-1

Really ? nothing comes up with a search ?
Your local hardware store, big box home improvement, tractor supply, etc should have one.

I've seen them at Lowes, in fact Lowes has a decent selection of metric hardware. Ace hardware had even more but you had to order it.

From Rick's link, I've been installing this "push nut":

My local hardware store charges 4ยข
You're looking for the size 5/32", works perfectly.

Don't know if this helps but here's a pic showing clips and washers.

I have the OEM clip. It looks like a tiny top hat. You just press it on. ACE Hardware carries similar ones in their little drawers.

'Jesus clips" ...on account of that being the word you mutter when they shoot off across the shop floor..
