I have a 1968 1500 Dune Buggy that has no heat risers and single carb. I notice a lot of condensation below the carb and nearly freezing....is there another way to get warm air to the carb?
I am quite puzzled as to why there are no heat risers to begin with. This Buggy was built in 1977.....I can't be the first to notice!
When cold, runs rough with a lot of sputtering. When warm, it runs better but still some sputtering and hesitation. Plug #1 looks rich, but 2,3 and 4 look lean.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated! |

You need to tell us what kind of carburetor you have on there. |

Okay, a stock single barrel (I think it's actually H30/31PICT)
So did they cut off the heat risers or are they just not connected to anything? Some aftermarket mufflers don't have any flanges for the heat risers (and if they do, they don't function that well) Or is this some non-stock manifold? (photo please!)
The answer of course, is to get a stock manifold that is not all plugged up with carbon, and have a halfway decent muffler setup to bolt it onto.
You can get some benefit by using an air cleaner with a preheat fitting on it as long as you can find a good source of hot air off the engine for it. |
