This is the Velleman K2543 kit. Thanks for that update. Amazon.com did show some in stock earlier today. Your update seems like a good upgrade, 4 amp limit and a 3 ohm coil is pushing it and likely to result in failure if you turn the key on but don't crank the engine for a minute.
Looking at the kit it appears to still use your points for dwell so they still need to be correctly gapped and dwell checked. There are other options out there using either a GM 4 pin HEI module or Ford gray TFI module. Those options have the advantage that they control dwell so the only thing the point need to do is open and close, how long is no longer relevent. |
