Looked but could not find the topic. Sorry to ask if already there...but....do bay window front seats fit into a vanagon? I have an 84 west that needs front seats. Cats have gotten in and peeeeeeeed all over the seats, and that has soaked into the foam Need to replace with something. Any ideas????? Thanks for your help. Wife and kids won't get anywhere near it as it sits. I can replace foam and fabric in the back. but the fronts are a challenge.

I dont know, but maybe get on the bay wondow forum and search for some seat photos, that may help you decide. Else there has to be some wrecked vanagons someplace that can donate the seats.

good luck in your quest

however....

the vanagon can get back at the nasty cat, run it over or burp some toxic antifreeze. here kitty here kitty.

there is one thread currently (vanagon) about seat cleaning and one poster did have reported success with cat piss removal. link....

some of of the enzyme based urine eliminator solutions can work miricles in removing the stench. I bought a house that had a nasty cat living in it, stank to high heaven in one rooms carpet and subfloor, was able to remove the stench finally by using the enzyme based urine cleaner. you may have to mix up a bucket of it and soak the foam and covers to get it too work. if the foam is shot, an automotive reupolstery shop should be able to replicate the foam for you.

but give the enzyme based urine removers a try, be agressive, soak the parts in it. you might be pleasantly surprise with the result. pet stors often carry the stuff. or amazon

I've seen Vanagon seats installed in late Bays, so it does seem possible that you could go the other way, as well. Unfortunately, they're mostly pretty beat up by this point.

yes seats from 76+ will exchange between bay & vanagon.

thanks for all the info guys. It is great, I appreciate it. I am going to start with the serious cleaning first. Seat covers are in good condition so I will try to deal with the cat pee first. If that doesn't work, I will look for late bay replacements. Thanks.

As someone who has owned a number of late bays I can say you'd be better off finding Vanagon seats the late bay seats are not nearly as comfortable.

I think you'll find that in the automotive realm, dogs are far far far more likely to be the perps of interior destruction. My cats keep rodent intrusion down to zero incidence in the last two decades.

Yep, never had a cat pee anywhere except the litter box, the dog however....

X2. My ass doesn't miss my Bay seats at all, even those seats that were in great condition. I'd go early Eurovan before Bay Window, almost as easy to install.

In my last Bay I had installed 914 fiberglass buckets, they did the trick for a number of years.
