Just bought this 1965 VW Beetle and the gentleman before me had a new turnkey 1600 installed recently. During examination of the engine case, I notice 3 openings that would seem to be for some sensor or switch. I cannot immediately identify them via the "book".
I already have the oil pressure switch in its typical place.
Any ideas?

Type III rear engine support. Standard on all universal cases.

Mustache bar (hanger) bolts holes, for a rear mount on certain T2's I believe.

You have a Universal case. All 3 are for mounting a rear engine support bar used in Type II & Type III vehicles. The holes are not needed and were never drilled & taped for engines used in Bugs. The plate on the bottom right is for a Type III dip stick.
