OK strange question, I know. But there are new speaker wires I will not be using which terminate in the front trunk and are threaded through the body panels and are hidden incredibly well. The speaker wires terminate in the rear near the engine compartment. My thoughts were to use the speaker wires for my gauges instead of running a 16 gauge individual wire to the back. Will these wires work? |

Probably, just don't tell anybody and be prepared to be dog-cussed by the next owner... :D |

Yeah, my Dad restored it for my daughter, so we'll never sell it. But maybe 20 years down the line I'll get a good laugh remembering that I had done that! Heh! |

They will work just fine. tach and oil temp senders don't carry hardly any current. |

Are they biwire, 99% oxygen-free, copper wound with banana plug terminals? |

I do not like hacking my car, and I can't say I've ever intentionally done anything less than properly on it. But if it meant tearing up carpet for gauge wires, I would use the speaker wire.
Let us know how long it goes.
Shhhhhhhh.

What I happen to use was some Teflon jacketed wire with four stranded number 20 gauge wires inside the jacket. One for tach, oil temp, oil pressure, and a spare for the future. Ran it front to rear. |
