folks,
I heard that 66 convertible seats and Thing seat are the one and same. Can someone out there clarify this for me? I bought some seat frame and turns out they are 61 bug seats, not ghia seats. The rails on my ghia are about 21" or so apart and bug seats rails are only 15" apart. Please correct me if i'm wrong. Desperately looking for some good seats.....
thanks

I don't think Thing seats will work since the tracks are different, though that doesn't mean they can't be made to work. The good thing is that Ghia coupe and convertible seats are the same and you can use seats from 60-67 Ghias (unless you want a high back seat, in which case you can use 68 Ghia front seats). You can also use low light Ghia seats, though they are generally more expensive than the later seats. There are a few seats for sale in the classifieds, though with the cost of shipping it might be worth it to wait and find seats locally.

Loren, are you say that later seats such as high backs will work on my 66, the only difference is that they are high-backs? I thought there was a little more difference than that but you may be correct.

You can only use 68 Ghia high back seats. They have the same seat tracks as the earlier seats. From 69 on the seat tracks changed so you can't use 69-74 Ghia seats on an earlier Ghia without changing the tracks.
