I just picked up a 91 Vanagon that's running really rough...I'm putting together a build thread that will be up this weekend, but in the meantime can someone tell me where -
This brown wire out of the harness near the distributor goes? Mine is hooked to nothing
This brown wire coming from the back of the block somewhere...again hooked to nothing
Neither of the vacuum lines coming out of the firewall were hooked to anything (purple and white)...I think one goes to the throttle body?
Thanks! |

Congrats on the new Van.
Purple does connect to the TB, by means of a short length of 3.5 mm vacuum hose. White connects directly to the rubber connector between the idle stabilization valve and the intake air plenum.
The brown wires look to be the ground wires for the oil pressure switches. |

I'm too lazy to go and look, but isn't there a brown ground wire that connects somewhere under the distributor?
Aloha

| the brown wire coming out of the wiring harness next to the distributor is a ground and should be bolted with the other grounds to the drivers side head the other brown wire on the top of the engine looks to be the oil pressure wiring harness one should go to the sender under the push rod tubes and the other should go to the oil pressure sender by the pulley. |
