View original topic: How to protect under side of bus from corrosion?

I have my bus on the lift and I have power washed and wire brushed the entire underside. Two days of work. Now... What should I protect it with? Spray can bed liner? Chassy paint? Suggestions welcome.

If there's rust still left you have to convert it with something like phosphoric acid.

No rust at all. Low mileage bus from a dry climate. I'm hoping to use something from an shake can.

It's an opinionated choice.

There's Spray Film which has a good reputation like Krown or undercoating. Your supposed to put Spray Film on every year but users say it can work for up to five years.

I have used both of Rustoleums spray undercoating but it's only been on for a few years. The more expensive/fast drying version goes on more consistently.

I would NEVER recommend anyone let Ziebart work on their car but the under coating they use seems to be very good. If I was going the undercoating route I would try to find a product with the same properties as theirs. It dries so it is not tacky but like a very low viscosity goo underneath the surface.

I bought cavity wax from the RustStore and they ship fast.

Here's another link that discuses the different types of undercoating.

This stuff was discussed in a recent thread.

I'm leaning on trying it out.

I live in Vermont where salt is liberally spread on the roads the instant it snows. Naturally I dont drive my bus in the winter. However, my 04 Silverado is driven year round. It has zero rust even though it has lived in Vermont for 13 years. Hot oil undercoated for the past 10 years. I have it recoated every fall and theres nothing better to stopping rust.

I just used 3M 80001. Undercoating and sound deadener. It is in a spraycan. When done it is a flat finish with some bumps in it. It looks like rhino liner when done. I think it looks great. There is not much in a can. I wish each can covered more. I just did my bad with @12 cans. It is messy but the final product is nice.

2 coats of Masterseries, paint and then Rocker Schutz. Pretty bulletproof.
