Hello - putting back together my steer column this morning and based on the pictures below it looks like I am missing something? Rubber gromet or something? Can anyone tell me whats up?
Thanks in advance

Yup, there is a round cup that bolts to the bottom of that plate that holds the steering column in place. Oh, and you might want to buy the rubber seal that goes around that plate. It's a knee saver or a knee killer if you leave it that way.

You can buy it here and I'm sure Wolfsburg West has them.

You are also missing a bolt and spring washer. There should be two holding the plate to the under-dash tray, and one holding the plate to the speedo pod. Also, if you are going for correct vintage, the plate should be black. All easy to fix. Check out Everett's photo for perfect!

You need the steel cup, rubber bushing and bolts- #11 and 12. You'll need to remove your SW and TSS to install them.
Good Luck! |

You can access the original VW Dealer Parts Manuals here:
http://oacdp.org/
Well worth taking the time to read through the parts manuals. You can find parts you did not know you needed to complete your VW. With proper name and part number you can find parts for sale via WWW searches that you would otherwise never be able to acquire. For some reason part number searches of the WWW work better if you take out the three spaces in the original part number, and add VW with a space in front of the part number removes a lot of random results. |
