Hi Samba Eurovan Folks:
I own a 1995 Eurovan Camper. The EV campers have a roof vent that can be manually popped open. Ours had an unfortunate run-in with a low parking garage ceiling, so we are on the hunt for a replacement.
Anyone have a EV camper they are parting out from which we might be able to buy this part? Our EV conversion is a Winnebago, so I believe any Winnebago conversion years would work.
Anyone else had to navigate this issue? Alternative suggestions?
Thanks and kind regards!

Hi wolfdc, my '02 roof vent does not work either. (it was taped shut when I bought it) I have spent a lot of time looking for a new one, and the best I have come up with is that Go Westy told me that they are working on producing and aftermarket one that will replace what we have. They told me they hope to have it out in the next six months. He suggested I sign up for Go Westy newsletter and read it to see when it is rolled out. I hope I was given accurate info, and I hope it is a nice product whenever it finally shows up on their website. Hope this helps... If you have come up with something else, I'd love to hear about it! |

Further update:
This information is accurate. We are designing a replacement skylight for the Eurovan that will be very similar to what you have now. We are checking different material types before making a final decision and going into production. We should have this to offer in 4-6 months, barring no manufacturing delays. Thanks!

Hello 1961tbird,
I'm also in the market for a replacement roof vent for my 2001 Eurovan Camper. Has GoWesty started production of these parts? I couldn't find it on the website, but am hoping I just missed it.
Thanks for the update. |

FYI - GoWesty’s skylight replacement is available.
https://www.gowesty.com/product/parts-hardware/25326/skylight-roof-vent-cover?v=
I’m needing to replace the latching mechanism, which is part of the frame itself and had broken off with previous owner. I was able to get this from someone parting out their van. The latch on the replacement one I have has a weak spring though, so going to check around for a way to replace just the spring.
I have a 95 EVC Winnebago camper conversion. |

... ours got quite soft in the sun, so it popped up on itself during the daytime in summer (some kind of automatic ventilation ;(. They used a different material than Winnebago, so it doesn't break, but in my opinion it is not stiff enough. |

How thick of a carbon plate did you use to mount the vent to the roof? |

This thread hasn't seen any action in awhile but has anyone found a replacement roof vent for 1995 EVC? The GoWesty link is not working. Searching GoWesty it looks like there replacement is not available. Thanks

If you can handle the extra few inches of height, a number of us have done the MaxxFan install and been very pleased with it.
An excellent writeup you can follow is here: https://1705.net/maxxair-roof-fan/
I did mine back in 2011 and have been very happy with it. Being able to leave the roof vent open without worrying about rain is a killer feature.
My main complaint with the MaxxFan is that it rattles quite a bit while driving down the road. (Note: I complained to the company, and they sent me an improved set of bushings, but that didn't really help much).
I fixed this by
* adding some foam rubber bumpers on the roof so that when the vent is closed tightly, the metal plastic grate is tightly pressing against the foam.
* adding some weatherstripping where the lid presses against the body when closed.
Edit to add: the version I installed is this one https://www.amazon.com/MAXXAIR-Maxxfan-Deluxe-Cover-Built/dp/B002OW5JG2/ |

I did the Maxxfan on my Eurovan (and also did it on my Vanagon Westfalia).
The fan I used was a Maxxair Maxxfan that is no longer manufactured, but this one is similar.
If you have an EVC, you have a light near the OEM roof vent, which means you have 12 VDC nearby to source power for the fan.
The benefit of forcefully drawing air out of the cabin cannot be overstated. You can crack a lower window, open this vent and turn on the fan, and keep you van much cooler in a hot parking lot.
If you're camping in a hot place, this fan can make the difference between misery and comfort.
If you're cooking salmon and capers, this fan can take that smell out of the van!
These fans have a design problem wherein they accumulate condensation inside the control housing. This condensation corrupts the circuit board. The resolution to this is to spray conformal coating on the circuit board before you install the fan. I know this because I had to replace my circuit board on my fan and I had to work with Maxxair customer service to get a new board, and they told me all about it. This problem/solution is also well documented on the Sprinter forums.
My fan does rattle a little bit, but I can usually get it to quiet down by resetting the lid while driving--and my arms are just long enough to reach the lid knob from the driver seat.

I'd rather not do a modification to the roof if not needed. Does Maxxfan have vents that fit the original opening?
Current vent is functional. It leaks, not sure if the seal between roof and vent has gone bad or if its just the seal around the lid.
Thanks for the tips. |

The problem with the original vent: arguably poor design, poor spare parts in the market, and nonstandard opening size. And it relies on convection of air to function--so it's passive ventilation. They are notorious for leaking. Poor performance all around.
The standard RV roof vent size is 14" x 14" and that's what the Maxxfan is.
