Hi,
I recently purchased a Helphos Spot light for the windshield and it's bone stock with the European end connector (two round prongs) I will take some photos when I get home later from work and post them here, but for now I'm hoping someone could give me some advise as to what direction I should go with getting this light to work in my car. 60' bug converted to 12v

Is there a way to still use that European connector?
Should I convert the connector to a US cigarette lighter connector?
Should I ditch any sort of connector and hard wire it into my fuse box?

Thanks everyone

This is what I would do.

You'll need to choose whether you want this able to be switched on all the time, or just when the key is in the "run" position.

How about option 4: Simply install a European socket like what Helphos, VW and all of Germany intended?

They are not rare (far more common than the Helphos light) and are period correct. You can pick one up at a BMW motorcycle dealer- or online. Make sure you convert the Helphos bulb to 12v too- or you will not enjoy the fruits of your labor long.

On an early car- your 4 main fuses are already protecting circuitry for a little more than their respective circuits require. Tie a socket to it- not the accessory itself, because... I would not tie directly into the fuse box with any accessory held onto your windshield by a suction cup.
