I remember seeing pictures of a crazy old Barndoor bus somewhere on line. I think the bus was located on Vancouver Island, possibly in Victoria. It was still on the road but it has been altered in some strange ways by its owner. The owner was described as an 'old German handyman' or something like that. He had been approached about selling it but had no interest. I remember he had added a lot of auxiliary lights, had done some strange body work, etc.

Does this ring a bell? I would just like to see the photos again and maybe read a little more about the story.

I know the bus you are speaking of. It's one of the few Barndoor buses still being driven by its longtime owner. But, it looks like a Columbian bus with all the hacks, mods, and body filler.

Mr. OGPaint that is the perfect way to describe it- it looks exactly like a Colombian bus. Hah. Do you remember where you saw pictures of it?

Shoot! No one knows. I have no idea where I would have seen those photos other than on TheSamba.

Stacey posted the pics and this comment...

"The story with this bus is that the fellow fixed it up in highschool in the 70's, and still drives the bus today!! The roof has been cut off all around and it attached by pully's and cables, and you can crank it up from the inside to lift it up like a tent trailer...!!"

Yup spotted it as recently as last summer, she's a special one :lol: to my knowledge there are only 4 barndoors left on the island, the crazy orange one being the only one on road :cry: but not for long :lol:
