Looked horrible..

Just like the Good Samba Says...

Soap, Water, a little bleach, and some elbow grease.. Came cleaner than I thought it would..

But, figured Id throw $20 worth of paint at it. Sanded it down a little in the bad places.. cleaned it again, let it dry, and voila!

Is it perfect? No, but its good enough for me, and was WAY Easier than I thought it would be..

This place was incredible when I did my Bug. Now that I have a 1970 Bus, I will probably start a project thread here.

Gotta agree-- those pics load real lame and time consuming-

Please post photos to the Samba gallery. It makes it a lot easier for most of us to see it and it will not get lost in the interwebs. Thank you.

What paint did you use? Brushed? Rolled? Spray?
Looks great!

Oh, I just rattle canned it with Rustoleum 2x Ultra-Cover. 6 cans, 3 coats..

Is it perfect? No.. Could I have primered it, sanded it, etc. for a lot better? Sure.. But its good enough for me, $23, and a few hours of my time.

Next up is the Luggage Rack, putting new support bars (or wood slats instead, probably), getting rid of the idiotic looking roof vent someone put in many years ago, and replacing it with something a bit more modern, sanding down the roof and painting it..

Probably ought to start that project thread..

:o Keep this thread as we know where you are-- also when putting the luggage rack on- make sure you can clean under it after install- because - that was why the whole roof had to come off the blue bus- BIG rust thru where the debris settled- Oh - and ocean air.

I did mine with Rustoelum and a fine roller....worked great, and beats the $3500 the body shop wanted to paint it.

Ouch!

My bus, thankfully, has a solid top except for the 14" square hole some idiot made for a vent.. Even the rain/drain channels are solid.. So, I figured I would just take a palm sander, sand it all down, primer and paint it, then install a new vent (Something from this millennium, with a fan) and call it a day. Since people won't be inspecting the roof of my bus, I am pretty confident in this as I am no "Body Guy". Sand, Clean, Etching Primer, Paint will probably be good enough for the roof..
