As far as the bus goes, it seems cheap whether he paid £10k or $10k or even £13k (plus the shipping). 23 window buses are in high demand these days and Steve's lucky enough to have two! Whether he sells it or keeps it and races it :D it'll still be cool to have another barndoor 23 at the shows in the summer

If it's Skim who has the old Volksworld or busracer, I forget which, he should have the authors name on the article. Though I have also known editors to make their own captions.

Busracer has it in hand. I have it at home but Im at work right now and yes it says something like "Many of our UK readers would like to know how the owner gets his car this low. Just sit in it with his wife and the shocks will break".

I just talked to TrayleD the OGGFK just told me the scoop on that racist caption from Volksworld. He explained confronting one of the editors of Volksworld about it at drag days last year. Heres what he had to say...

Trayle has been wanting to get to the bottom of that picture for years now.
He saw Stephan Szantzai, one of the writers from Volksworld Magazine at Drag Days and just happened to have that particular magazine with him when Stephan was walking by. He pulled him to the side and said, "Who wrote this and Stephan was like No No! That was Ivan's fault...
It all about the blame game over there.
Believe me, That has been brought up to them many times already.

i can see not really understanding using beaner...but to go on about the shocks thing and using the term 'ol lady is really fucking pushing it. i think it really adds up to racism. i think traditional mexican culture is beautiful and havent a racist bone in my body...maybe i dont understand everything about different people in the world but im trying.

Check it out guys. I was at drag day last year. John Canales(of the GFK) had just finished buying some magazines from the swap meet. That particular VolksWorld was one of the magazines. So I grabbed it and went to show some of the guys what was written in it. I have known about that caption for years. I think I first read it back in 1997 and I couldnt believe it. Anyway, just as I was reading it to my homies I saw Stephan walking by. I couldnt resist, the article said it was written by him. So I cornered him. I was gonna gauge my actions based on his response, not knowing if there was some sort of cultural difference in the wording. But as soon as I brought it up to him he seemed to know what I was talking about, and quickly blamed it on someone else. Skim is mistaken, he didnt blame it on Ivan, I think he said it was Mike Pye but Im not sure. Ill tell you this for free though. Youll never get a real apology outta any Britt. They may say "ya, I said something offensive" but the very next thing outta thier mouth is always "you YANKS dont understand Brittish humor". :roll: And in respsonse I say "Give Ireland back to the Irish you limy bastards"..... That usually gets them going.... :fist:... But hey, No offense!!! Thats just YANKEE humor...

I'm am gonna apologise now as I am sure this will offend some people!

Back in 97 when I read the VolksWorld article about the Mexican guy I was REALLY offended by the comment. At this time I had not had the pleasure of knowing any Mexican people, that was until my visit to LA in 2001 and what a great bunch of people I met!

Secondly there is no such thing as Britain or the United Kindom (well in my mind anyway) I find both terms offensive/rascist and I would suggest if you are using this term you have no real understanding of the people. There are 4 countries England, Northern Ireland (NI), Scotland and Wales, NOT Eire (Ireland). As for giving back NI, too many NI people want to stay 'British' or so I'm told by our Goverment.

As we are on the subject of racisim, we are all rascists by birth, though we will hide behind the term 'National Pride', lets remember 'National Pride' killed six million Jews during WW2.... I read that at Ann Franks House in Amsterdam.....

The real reason there is a them and us between ' Britain' and the rest of the world is because sub-consciously we still believe 'Brittania Rules the Waves' and are scared by our lost ed Empire including North America and we also have to admit to ourselves we would be speaking German if it wasn't for those 'Yanks' though obviously 'National Pride' would never allow us to admit this or say it out loud. We are very reserved, unless mixed with alcohol and supporting our National Football side when 'National Pride' steps in and we seem to think it is WW2 all over again......

I have found Americans, French, and German people, who I don't know, visiting England very brash, offensive, loud mouthed, ignorant etc, etc but when I visit their countries they are the nicest people you could ever wish to meet. Infact much more warm and inviting than English people finding Americans, French, and German people in their country......

I'll let you decided what is fact and what is 'British' sense of humour......
