This past weekend some Vanagons came out for the first BC Overland Rally at Hemlock Valley.

These events are geared to the overlanding crowd who mostly own Land Rovers, Jeeps, Toyotas etc. and the event features a range of presentations, demos and skills classes from wine tasting to trail welding. There are vendors showing off their camping and overlanding gear and this year there was even a Vanagon-specific company that makes custom bumpers and offers other gear for any vehicle.

The organizers were nice enough to have a Syncro-only hour on the technical course and had three professional off-road drivers to spot, offer tips and guide us through the course, which was over preexisting roads and trails on the ski hill.
I think we really benefited from this time with the pros and they seemed pretty impressed with the capabilities of our hotels on wheels! 8)

Kind of ironic that happened while almost directly above the Washington Overland Rally!
Hope you're on the road soon! |

That was a pretty awesome chance to try some terrain that was a bit gnarlier than I've dared before, kudos to the organizers! |
