😂 Yes unfortunately, I am trying to keep it a surprise but can't wait to share it with my Samba Family since this has been a 10yr build and I have been supported beyond belief. 👍 But I still have the details to do but it's a waiting game now, parts still coming in all over the world. 😅

Treffen 2023 was almost a no-make, but getting the car done and ready feels amazing!

whats up with the color choices on that?

Marcus in Germany has the correct upholstery for 51/52 standards. Kinda late now though..but the deluxe upholstery looks pretty good

Well, it is my interpretation of what Maximilian Hoffman could have done with his means of the factory while still being period and era correct, instead of throwing chrome on a standard. The medium blue L37 was the original color, and all sections of chrome are now replaced with L22 medium grey a Barndoor color, and then I have small selective areas with L51 Bordeaux.

Thanks I matched the original upholstery that I removed from my standard seats from Kristof in Germany.

😆 😆 Yes, revenge on the ultra-split nerds! I call it The New York Edition, plus we had shirts made with marketing material for Treffen. We even changed the vehicle's gray color tones from the Hoffman dealership brochure to match the color shades tones of my car. N😂RD for sure and something I feel like no one has ever done and still be tasteful.

You did an outstanding job bro 😎 and it was definitely one of the top 5 for me at the show! Thank you and the family for bringing it down for all of us to see

Big thanks, Rich, and I always appreciate the support. It was a great time and did come with a lot of downs, but we got there and got to introduce my build to the west coast community. 👍

Congrats!! Looks and sounds amazing! It must be immensely gratifying to have it out on the road. Actually sounds a lot like my 50 standard Hoffman split :-)

Pete, thanks for the compliment; it was a truly pleasure meeting as well. Anytime you and Henry are in the North Texas area, you are welcome to come by my shop.

Hi
I just watched your video. Nice to see another split on the road and a standard one at that. Congratulations.
I wish you many years and happy miles of safe motoring.
As an owner of a split beetle with a crash box I will offer you a word of advice.

If you don't want to shorten the life of your gearbox , by constantly grinding your 1st and second gear and second and third gear changes do the following. -

Do not be in such a rush to engage the higher gear, pause slightly between the up changes enabling the lower gear to drop slightly in revolutions to better match the taller gear.
The crash box can be just as smooth as a fully synchronized box as long as you don't rush the up shifts. My gears mesh as smooth as silk on the upshifts. Down shifts are completely different. You must double clutch and match the gear speeds.
VW split gear boxes were the basis on which the classic beetles legendary smooth gear changes were built on.

Mark.
