Breather hose from air cleaner to oil cap area. Replacements no longer available so what are you all using?

None of those look correct because the end that plugs into oil breather is bigger than attach to plastic air cleaner. I’d verify before ordering. 74 has no road draft tube, vents directly into air cleaner.

I bought a new one a few months back from Wolfgang International here in town. The fit was perfect, so I don't know why there's an issue here. The part was just a few bucks, too.

Of course, you need the original 1974 oil filler; it has the larger diameter breather nipple. You also need the original corresponding plastic paper-element air filter.

And apparently VW vendors are just ignorant about which air cleaners went on which year bugs.

Up through 1970 was the oval oil bath cleaner with the cable-operated preheat flap.
1971 was the oval-shaped oil bath cleaner with the wax-pellet thermostat operated flap.
1972 (and actually i thought 1973 as well but maybe not) had the oval-shaped oil bath cleaner with the small vacuum canister attached to the snorkel and the thermostatic switch in the lid.

ALL of these were basically the same shape air cleaner that used the double-bend crankcase breather hose. The larger more recangular-shaped air cleaner that this shorter one-bend hose is correct for, started in 1974.

So anyone who has a 1972 (and maybe 73, not sure) that goes by what the vendors are saying is going to get the WRONG hose.

EDIT: Just checked the 73 owner's manual in the tech section and yes, it too used the same air cleaner as the 72.
So out of ALL those years these vendors claim that hose fits, the ONLY one they got right was 1974.
That is just shameful.
