Recently picked up a 57 oval. My plan is to do a complete body off restoration. I'm not new to vws and know what it takes to restore a car. (See my ghia build in description). I have started to clean up parts and pieces and bagging them up. Unfortunately someone before me had the car sand blasted and never coated it with anything.

Having followed your build in the ghia forum back when you were a 17 year old, I'm excited to see what you will do here! This should be fun to watch. And I have some oval window stuff in my stash if you need anything. Byron

Back to showroom stock, Cal Look or resto-mod?

I think the only thing I'm going to do that isn't stock is lower it and maybe different wheels.

Picked up a powder coating system from harbor freight. Works pretty good. I'm happy with the way the stuff came out.

Looks like a solid project. Nice work so far. Will be keeping an eye on this one.

Made a little progress and got the pans out. Someone had put new halves in but they were barely welded on. Going to start over and put new ones in.

I don't have anything significant to add other than I'm interested because I, too, own a '57! Thanks for posting!
