I'd like to hear from anyone who has installed and used electric pre-heat on their manifold in place of exhaust pre-heat. My manifold heat risers are cut off, and I'd like to know if electric motorcycle hand grip warmers are practical. How well do they work? I don't want to pay for a used (clogged) manifold as I have a header without pre-heat connections. HELP!

I cant imagine those are going to get hot enough to do any good, might be wasting your money. I see refurbished manifold center sections at SoCal Auto Parts for around 80.00, or buy used and unclog it. I would try to use what VW designed.

I cant remember who but someone posted up here about electric heat wrap, you wrap your manifold with it and wire it up. They said it worked good for them.

The problem that you'll run into with an electrically based system, is available electrical power. The 12 volt heaters generally develop less than 5 watts of heating power. https://www.mcmaster.com/heat-wrap I suppose you could just wrap the entire manifold with them but they're $30 to $40 each!
It might be easier to weld on some nipples to your exhaust and install a functional intake manifold.
