A guy near me has a buggy body that he says is a real Manx but he does not have the hood, what should I look for to ID it? He only wants $50 for it and I may be able to get it for $30 so I may pick it up anyways. I will post a picture if I get it.

The first clue would be a metal serial number tag below the back seat with the B.F. Meyers & Co. name/emblem on it.
Beyond that you would need to study the shape of a Meyers Manx body on the internet then look for differences in shape.
Meyers Manxes had both a battery well and a spare tire well in the back seat except if it was a Manx 2 then it had no wells.
They had a steel dash frame(except Manx 2s) and steel brackets supporting the body in front and back
Best thing to do is post some pictures |

It even has our nice clean round Chevy Impala tail lights on it, it also has "The Golden Spike" painted on the side. It has a few cracks in the glass but they are not bad.

For 50.00 just buy the damn thing and worry who’s clone it may or may not be latter.
Really if 50.00 requires that much thought you wont have the $$$ to finish it anyway.

I am disabled and my check does not go far so that's why I worry about money, If I buy it I may have to eat Top-Ramin for a week.

OK so I picked up the dunebuggy body, I got it for $30 because it was a little more beat up then I thought, it has some cracks but I am pretty good with glass so I think I can fix it, if not I will make it in to a planter. Here are some pictures, it looks like there was a tag or two on the firewall but they are gone, there is no hood but I am going to see if my other body's hood will fit and if it does I make a quicky mold from it or dig out my English wheel and make one out of aluminum.
Can any body ID it, I would think the little "Kick Tail" might ID it.
Thanks for any help.

| Without the hood, cannot be for certain. But could be a California Clipper or a Desert Fox Spoiler. Leaning more toward the CC. |

No, I just got the body, the pan is from my "Safari Trail" buggy that's apart right now, I just used it for a trailer to get the body home.
Looking at some pictures I think it is a Desert Fox body
Any body know where to get a hood? or am I going to have to make one?

| The front suspension notch's, (top of the shocks) are way too high. I never saw a Manx with those. |
