Does anyone have any new information on the dates of this trip? I am trying to plan a trip and I hear the hotels rooms fill up quickly. We should be about 12 months away so I would think they should have the dates finalized now. I have been checking the website, but it is not updated yet.

Hot off the press!
Dates just confirmed 21-23rd June 2019.

Now book that sleeping spot.
Even Air BnB...we did that for HO17 and stayed in some cool places and villages

Oh man. I went to the one in 2003. Great trip and memories. Sadly my partner in crime is no longer able to travel. Not sure it would be the same without her along. WTF was I thinking tucking in my T-shirt. Oh man, the things I should have bought there...lol.

I am thinking about going. Are there any shows the weekend before or after worth going to?

Here's me at BC in 2011. Rained the whole time.

Not true! Whilst there was rain, as there often is in Germany at that time of year, the Sunday was mostly sunny, as you can see below.

There is a huge VW show in Belgium the weekend afterwards. Look up the European Bug In, in Chimay Belgium, many people go to both if making the trip over from the US.

Hmmm... I just remember rain and rain. I'll take your word for it.

It was amazing to see #6. My buddy Dave and I arrived at the same time as #6, it was just so jaw dropping to turn around at the gate and see the car we had all been following here from beginning to end in the flesh so to speak.

That's how I remember BC 2011 too.
We were there on saturday only and it was raining but the sunday was a lot better.
Unfortunatly we were allready driving home :(

But offcourse it was great to see all those fantastic cars and I'm looking forward to be there again 8)

Looking through the photos again, which have times associated with them, I can see the from photo below, taken for door gap analysis!, shows a time of 2.07pm, and clearly it had been raining not long before, but the rest of the afternoon was OK.

I guess that if you got up at 7.00am when it was raining, and headed off home at 2.00pm, it would seem like it had rained all day, whereas we would have got there for 10.30/11.00am, and stayed there until Sunday night (Checked out of hotel Monday morning), then it wouldn't seem to have rained that much.

It's a question of perspective, and we're all correct in our own way!

Curious what have been the results of your gap analysis...

Martin Southwell Sun Feb 24, 2019 3:55 am

The person helping me with bodywork on the 47, thought that the door gap was too wide on my car, and so I was taking pictures to get some consensus of what things looked like on other cars to show him.

It seems that the A post, in the rain gutter area, bows backwards, at approximately the same level as the base of the windscreen. I originally thought that this was as a result of the damage sustained during the 1966 accident, but it seems to be normal on these early cars.

I've been to BC every event since 2007. And yes, I think there was some rain every time, but it wasn't a constant washout. As much sun as there was rain every time. The beer tent always provides shelter and the Brats never get old. Going again this year....

Martin Southwell Mon Feb 25, 2019 4:28 am

It would be good to meet up with you after seeing your name so often on this website, but with so many people there, it is frequently easy not to find who you are looking for, and return home having not met up! I've been going to this meet since the early 90's, and always a great place to meet people from all around the world.

The only downside is that, as you start to become older, and reflect more on things, you begin to realise that these meets are 4 year chunks of your finite life galloping past. Lifespan should not therefore be measured in years, but VW meets!

Martin Southwell Tue Jun 04, 2019 3:13 pm

It's amazingly quiet on this website regarding the upcoming Bad Camberg meet, which is only two and a half weeks away. https://www.lottermann-veteranen-treffen.org/english/

Hopefully it will be a less hectic affair than the Hessisch Oldendorf meeting 2 years ago, when trying to get anywhere was like trying to get back into a football stadium as the crowds are leaving. Most unpleasant at times.

The 14 day weather forecast for Bad Camberg shows a lot of rain before hand, so fingers crossed for the actual weekend. https://en.tutiempo.net/bad-camberg.html?day=8
