I have a 78 Superbeetle Fuel Injected Ragtop that I finally got started but when started it goes balls to the wall full speed and I have to shut it down to keep it from throwing a rod because its revving so high. I know its flooding because I smell gas and it wont start again till I unhook the fuel source and bleed off the pressure. Then after waiting a while, I can hook up the fuel source again and start it. Can anyone help ? I've been told injectors are sticking open. |

Sounds like multiple issues, start with the throttle cable and throttle body to confirm they are free and closing fully. After that what you describe sounds just like some horribly perished hose causing a huge vacuum leak, L-jet can't tolerate any leaks, even a tiny one, rotten hoses and loose joints all add up a little here and a little there, no bueno, it's not smart enough to compensate.
If the injectors were sticking open it wouldn't run at all. Another place to check is the temperature sensor #2 on the LH head, if it's damaged or making poor contact it'll default to full rich. |
