I am running a 1192cc 36hp engine with a WW okrasa kit, and also installed their oil vapor barrier.
As the engine now has it maximum hp at roughly 4500 while an original 36hp is achieving that at roughly 3600. (see dyno sheet: https://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/album_page.php?pic_id=1682081)
I also installed the WW oil vapor barrier, which goes into the oil filler neck.
I have some doubts regarding this part, according to me it will limit the engine case breathing because the plate is working as a restrictor.
on a standard 36hp which is slowly driven it will work ok but what about an okrasa engine which is frequently driven hard.
Who has any experience with this barrier in relation to tuned 36hp engine case breathing? Or any advise? |

I installed that on my engine but I also used vented valve covers like this
No problems with breathing cruising at 80 MPH |

Honestly I had to look twice to this picture to see what is vented. but now I do see that there is a pipe running in the middle, starting from top and exiting in the bottom of the valve cover. Have you made that yourself? Or was it an accessory back in the days? It looks pretty easy to weld that on, what is the pipe diameter?
anyone else remarks on the oil vapor barrier? I guess you will also be able to run without and not have leaking, as it was not originally designed with this part. |

it works great. it was a original part on 25hp motors. when they added the draft tube to the oil filler they stopped using it. |

cool, I will take your advise, I'll make a set of those valve covers. I have thrown out the WW oil vapor barrier, with a proper alternator gasket I am sure it will not leak, just install it properly.
I have 8mm copper (cunifer) lines which I will use as well for my fuel lines, currently in progress to convert to Zenith NDIX... can't wait to hear it running and dyno'd. |
