Guys,
My customer has a lifted 1989 Vanagon and keeps breaking speedometer cables where it clips onto the instrument. Does anyone have experience with this problem? TIA |

No clue. All I know is that two years ago a shop installed a new cable. Today I found a broken plastic retaining clip on the speedo end of the cable. I’m assuming that the cable is too short |

The beemer brake booster is 1" bigger in diameter and is known to kink the speedometer cable at the speedo. People route the speedo cable differently to lessen the pressure.
The 1 piece replacement speedometer cable offering is long. |

Good info. I’ll look for a label on the booster.
Just purchased a replacement cable today. I just asked for a cable and I received what I received. I have no idea if it’s longer. It’s GEMO.
If there is an alternative routing method, I’d love to see it. Any links? |

when you take off the cluster and look at the booster, if you can easily see the top mounting bolts, then it's a stock booster, the BMW booster practically covers the bolts

This is the way I found it today. Cable was installed 2 years ago by a shop in San Luis Obispo |
