I R&R my engine, and was not sure if this switch got changed... Should it be on Hi or Low? Thanks! A picture of the other end of that brown wire m might help. SGKent Sat Jun 09, 2018 2:02 pm best guess is altitude switch. Look at the label on the engine lid to see if it mentions elevation. Look at the wires I bet they are both white and lead back to the ECU. Also the M-Code may show a city like Denver etc as the destination. mr matt Sat Jun 09, 2018 2:06 pm The bus was bought in Colorado, and came from there. Most likely those are the ones and VW installed the mysterious altitude switch that makes the engine run leaner. Leave it on low if you are in PA. High would be like for Denver or higher in Colorado.
