Both this and the gulf are really cool, but this one is cooler. Maybe they'll start a rerun of the old ones. |

I just picked up the white one and while it looked good in the package, out of the package it sucked. The paint was flat, dirty, like it had been played with and the doors on mine don't close or fit correctly. The drivers door is questionable if it the right one for the car.

Matchbox Superfast no. 11 Flying Bug, 1972. A good friend picked this up for me while on vacation at a swapmeet in Paris.
Have you seen anybody more German looking?

Did Matchbox, HW, JL, ever make 411 or 412 1/64 scale cars? |

No, you would have to look to German makers for those.
Schuco made a nice early 411 two-door. (It's actually 1/66 scale.)
Siku also made a nice 411 diecast in its V Series. It's on my want list.
The only 412 was made by Stelco. We're talking vintage toys here.
There was never a model of a 411 or 412 Variant. |

Yes, but I'll probably not pursue it as the car is not in that great a shape. It will have to be a spontaneous swapmeet find. |

Those are some nice sets. I have about a half dozen of those, loose and well played with. |

Fred Bronner was the original and sole distributor of Matchbox cars in the U.S. He must have become very rich. Lesney bought him out in 1964.
Here's my new edition, just came in today.
Lesney Matchbox No. 67-C transitional Fastback.
This had the Superfast wheels and base, but the red color from the original 67-B regular-wheel version. It was rushed into production to try and save Matchbox sales from the popular new Hot Wheels. |
