I have a 1957 11 window bus, running a stock beam that I want to fit a sway bar to. I also have a 1971 KG that is running Koni gas shocks and an aftermarket sway bar - the ride is quite harsh and I want to avoid this with my bus.
Do the aftermarket bus sway bars ride harder than the stock ones? I may also install a rear sway bar or camber compensator in the future, if I can find one, so it would need to be compatible.
What are peoples experiences with the aftermarket vs stock sway bars please? |

I haven't tried an aftermarket bar but I have a stock 66-67 front sway bar on my '63 and I didn't notice any sort of harsher ride, only nicer cornering.
I wonder if it's the gas shocks on your Ghia?
Oil shocks ride nicer on my Bus. |

I second what Everett said.
I have a stock bus sway bar on my 61. Added the rear camber compensator as well at he same time (old school EMPI). This made for noticably better cornering.
I don't think it affected the ride at all.
This ^^^^ camber compensator is hard to find, but I think there is something available new now.
Use oil shocks. gas shocks are harsher. |

Thank you all for the input.
The aftermarket ones that I am seeing locally are 3/4 inch (CIP1). What would the diameter of the stock one be?
I am thinking rubber bushings over urethane for the best ride?
Mid America Motorworks have a generic camber compensator for Buses and Beetles. |

The bushing type won't affect ride quality
Urethane last longer but can squeak |
