The good news is that I just scored an aluminum two piece case (thanks Jan!). Now I want to clean it up so I can check for cracks. I found a place down the street from my work that performs ultrasonic cleaning, but not for grubby things like 70 year old engine blocks. I've found a shop in LA that ultrasonically cleans engine parts, but I would prefer to stay local. Can anyone suggest a place to clean my case? I live in San Carlos and work in Fremont, CA.

Good to hear you recieved the case, thanks again Paul!
Don't tell the local self car wash center, but that's my favorite place to clean off the real dirt. Just go there after 8pm and clean the case for $5 :lol:
I'm not one of the detailed engine builders, but in the past I heard that some guys made good experience with vapor blasting...

Yes, I've been thinking about vapor/vapour/wet/aqua blasting my case.
And yes, I'm aware that those little glass beads can ruin an engine.

| Soda blasting won't hurt a thing, though. There are all kindsa DIY soda-blasting setups on view on the Internet Machine. |

Wear a rain poncho and safety glasses
Find a shop that rebuilds automatic transmissions and have them clean it for you.
