You're suggesting Australians can't smell petrol? |

It's not me who questions their sniffers. It's the Australian vendor who felt obligated to tell their customers to not drink out of a gas can.
From the ad...
"Also suitable for water, provided that the cell has not been used for fuel before." |

I made a rollup funnel like Wildthings flat funnel.
Except with my own dimensions to fit in the fuel filler.
Its pretty compact, I'll keep it in my van toolbox.
It works !
It depresses the little flap inside the fuel filler neck.
I tried to do a little funnybusiness with interlocking tabs, but they didn't work right.
It would be handy to make another one, and find the tabs design that fit the van fuel filler.
And a white funnel might be easier to use at night and you can see if it's clean.
The problem with the Wildthings flat funnel, I'd forget what it was after a few years and throw it away as a scrap.
Interlocking tabs "may" spur the memory and prevent tossing it.
Cuz it’s gonna be “years” until I run outta gas again, right? |

Ran outta gas 3 miles from Pendleton.
271 miles.
Guage slightly past the bottom.
I had replaced the fuel level sender and
wanted to "know" what the guage looks like when it's truly empty
But I assumed it would go at least 323 miles on 19 gals. (19 x 17mpg = 323 miles)
Not impressed by the mileage ( 271 / 19 gal = 14.3 mpg).
Its a friggin' tintop!
I think the thermostat is not closing. |

l have a wife, who ran out of fuel more times in 2022, than l have in 38 years of driving.
l would get calls, says she was out of fuel on the freeway or someplace, l gave her a 2 gallon red can, and she's on her own now.
nothing wrong with the fuel gauge, she doesn't look at it often enough.
she HATES the red can, but it still doesn't make her take more notice of the fuel gauge.
while l like the idea of an under floor spare tank, it would not annoy her enough to check her gauges more often. |
