| Early 52 would have been the last year for factory one peice windows in a beelte. Zwitter(late 52/oval dash split) was the first beetle to have vent wings. l hope thats the information you got. |

| Any bugs built prior to October 1/52 had full windows with no vent wings. The beginning of the late model "zwitter" splits |

Why would you revisit this thread?? Lets get this straight. January 52 was not when vent wings were added.
In October 1952, vent windows were added to the fronts of the door windows on both the sedans and cabriolets. The pillars separating the vent wings and the door windows were vertical. These pillars were chome plated on the deluxe, bright aluminum on the early cabriolet and were painted on the standard.
The convertible windows were different then the sedan in that they had aluminum edging surrounding them for added strength. The vent window on the cabriolet was surronded also by a sturdy, bright aluminum frame. The cabriolet vent window frame was redesigned in the mid 1953s. The new window frame had a narrower cross-section and was chrome plated. These new units also had anew weather stripping and a rain gutter at the bottom of each vent window. This gutter was designed to keep rain out of the vehicle when the vent window was open in a storm. |
