Just purchased a 156 piece Socket Set by Channel Lock to start building up my tool collection for my first engine rebuild. I have other Channel Lock pliers and have always done well with them but curious what you all think if the Socket Set if you happen to own one yourself. It comes in a nice case with all the normal 1/4", 3/8", and 1/2" ratchets and sockets, great to take on a trip type of set. The tools come with a Lifetime warranty also. My thought was to buy some real nice ratchets, like the Hazet Ratchets, and use the sockets from this Channel Lock set until one day I can afford the actual Hazet sockets. Just the 3 Hazet Ratchets alone will cost be about $200 and the sockets are way up there in price. Figure the Channel Lock sockets with Lifetime warranty should be OK being used with some nice ratchets. The Channel Lock Ratchets seem decent enough also but always wanted to buy some nice Hazet tools also. What are your thoughts if you use these Channel Lock sockets also.

Thanks

I was able to figure out that Channellock, Inc just puts there name on this set and it is actually made by Allied International. Not sure if this Allied actually makes the tools or what but if anyone has any pro or cons on this tool set, let me know what you think. I ordered three nice Hazet ratchets today to get my collection going and hoping the Channellock sockets will work OK until I can afford the nicer Hazet sockets at a later time.

Take it easy,

Thomas

My motto is:

If you break it on a Sunday afternoon, can you get a new one in an hour for free?

I buy Sears because I just do this for fun.
If I did it for a living, I would buy Snap On or Hazet.

S/K.

I still have all the pieces from the original 3/8" set i bought back in 1969.

S/K here too. Local auto parts shop stocks and services S/K tools.

Only had a ratchet head fail when doing something I should not have been doing. I have a Proto 1" breaker bar and 36mm and 46mm ockets for that now.
