| When I shift to 3rd gear it starts sluggish and then I hear a loud crank in the engine department and sounds like something is rattling around back there. Any ideas |

| Could this be the flywheel. It makes a awful sound like something broke. But only does it in high gears |

Does the sound change with throttle: accel. , decel. ,float ? Hot or cold engine?
Can you make the same sound with a slight dump of the clutch? Or, make it go away with slight pressure on the clutch pedal?
Loads on the engine and trans are higher in 3rd and 4th gears, check that your clutch free play is right, and check crank end play.
If you can record the sound so we can all hear it.
