So I have a 2.5 l engine with 31 inch tires and a full cage in my car and 3x3 etc., I found some nice can am shocks on offer up for pretty cheap, would that be a way to consider suspension wise?

Do you mean Baja? If it is a full cage and bodied car, I’m not sure if the UTV shocks would be valved correctly for the increased weight of a full bodied car. Considering even the Maveric is only 1500lbs where most Bajas are 2300-2700lbs. The motor alone at roughly 300lbs is double the weight of the can am motor.

What if I changed the springs to hold the weight?

They can be resprung and revalved to work, I used a pair of KX rear shocks on the front to my baja for a few years before moving up the foxes.

Also if I had researched more my car may have ended up with UTV shocks.

I’m not sure about all the sxs offerings but I’ve seen a few that are aluminum bodied shocks. I’d try to stay away from those on a heavy car otherwise I too have considered them.
