A former co-worker was telling me about his uncles old VW shop in North Georgia. The shop had been closed for about 20-30 years. He called recently to tell me the property had been sold pending a land survey and enviormental survey. Although he said every thing had been cleaned up I still got permission to look around.
There were several buildings and sheds on the property. Most had collapsed themselves or had help from trees that fell on them. I didn't go in any of them. The enviormental survey company had bulldozed roads thru the property and due to the weeds and kudzu I sated on these roads. Everything was cleaned out but I did find a shed that looked safe to enter and found a VW engine and a VW transaxle. On the back side of the shed half buried I found some parts from a coupe. The back inner shell and a vin stamp.
As I was taking the parts back to my truck I noticed a familiar shape sticking out of a pile of dirt pushed over by the dozer. I dug around and pull out some more 356 parts. I searched around and found the roadster dash not to far away. Unfourtunatley it looked like the rest of the car was crushed by the dozer. And no vin for the roadster.

Edit not all parts in the pic are from the roadster some are from the coupe and some are pieces had laying around

Great man cave wall art! Wonder why the engine lid survived intact with no rust? Could it be aluminum possibly? I see a useable defroster vent too.

I decided to restore this roadster. After all other cars have been restored with a lot less original parts. After a little hammer and dolly work I decided to go back to the original yellow but setled on something a little closer to Ferrari yellow. This is a pic of the finished car restored to whence it came.
