So since I'm hunting for a new project, I've been going over more ads across all sorts of mediums; Craigslist, Facebook Market Place, Ebay, you name it . . .

I see alot of people selling absolute JUNK for top dollar, or I see nice rigs and everyone is coining the most tired phases IMHO to justify their asking price. Here are a few that drive me nuts and the thoughts they invoke in my crazy brain:

1.) "Running when parked"

- So you limped it into its resting place for some reason right?

2.) "Numbers Matching"

- Works on rare collector cars, but not rust buckets. Because if the body is that bad, I can't imagine how the original engine faired through your tender love and care . . .

Anyone want to chime in here, what do you see that drive you nuts?

"Needs work"

Doesn’t “the official whine” stickies in most of the forums cover this topic?

OEM. Is aftermarket. Not a Factory part.

OE . Is original dealer supplied.

Original owner. Although person selling it is not the original owner. They're hustling it.

"Just needs a freon recharge" - no, refrigerant leaked out for a reason: there's a leak !!!

One of my favorites is “Ready for paint”. If it’s truly ready for paint, it would already be painted. Anyone that has painted a car knows that prep takes ALL the time. Putting on the paint only takes a couple hours

"easy fix"

"One just like it sold on Barrett-Jackson for ..."

"It'll be worth..." (After you put twice that amount into it.)

"Owned by a mature driver."

"Owned since new".

Big deal, so has every other old VW, you just don't happen to be the original owner.

Reason 1: Seller has no clue what it is, or how much it's worth.
Reason 2: Seller has a price in mind, but doesn't want to scare off bids.
Reason 3: Seller is a Dick!

Photos
Photos at night, or poorly lighted.
Photos that are unclear, it's a F'ing cell phone camera, nothing to develop,
nothing to waste, keep taking photos till you get 3 good ones,
It's not that f'ing Hard. Ya Dick!

I love “One of a kind custom”, trying to put a positive spin on a car that’s been butchered beyond recognition.

Reason 4: Seller has price in mind but is hoping for crazy offer far beyond what he is expecting
Reason 5: Seller changes price based on who asks

I've had a couple people tell me in the past they were hoping for #4
I know for a fact there is a car flipper on here that does #5

Krustybus Mon Sep 16, 2019 5:49 pm

#1 Photos that show all the things on the long list that’s not included.
#2 $20k asking price, but it needs a $50 master cylinder?
#3 Back dating the year. A November 58 is still a 59!
