I posted on Facebook that I am interested in selling my 74 Thing, a British friend read that and wants to take it back to England, Does anyone know if a 74 Thing is difficult to register for someone who has a British address?
Brits and EC'ers please help. |

I've not imported a vehicle myself, but I can't see that it would be any more difficultly than for any other vehicle.
This DVLA link is probably the place to start, assuming you friend wants to go the DIY approach. Alternatively the will almost certainly be companies offering a complete import & registration service.
That said, it will be easier for the importer if you are able to provide documentary evidence (from VW - eg: a birth cert) of the vehicle's date of manufacture. This will simplify the process of getting the vehicle registered as 'historic', and so Tax exempt. |
