View original topic: Chart comparing the differences between model years

I have searched and not found anything. Is there any kind of chart showing the differences and changes between model years? For example Headlights, engines changes, the interior changes.

scattered all over this site - e.g. Dometic fridge changes to pick one arcane change

use title search and I think you can find major changes in a few threads

Nice graphic! Good to reconfirm at least one thing from my original seller. It is in fact an '88 Wolfsburg.

I’m confused, this ad shows a Pop Top, Bed, Rear Cabinet, no kitchen, but is earlier than the Multivan years. Still a Weekender Package or is there another name for it being that it’s an ‘87?

VW called these basic campers I believe, but everyone, including me, calls them Weekenders.

I tend to call mine a Westfalia Weekender or a pop-top Weekender to ID it as different from the Weekender package given to tin-tips with fold down flat seat with rear cushion as mentioned in previous posts.

Okay, that makes sense. I tend to call them that as well since ‘Basic Camper’ doesn’t do it for me.... :P :P

Adding to the confusion I suppose, is the fact that VW used both the MV (Multivan) and Weekender nomenclatures on the T4, which no doubt bled back into T3 convos about their similar model configurations.

A T4 MV is essentially a tintop Carat model in the T3 guise, while the MV Weekender is more or less a T3 "Weekender" or MultiVan, though the T4 lacks the rear cabinet (thankfully).

This site shows information about which models, colors, prices, etc. were available each year, except 83-85.

Check out:
www.Vanagons.org

Tons of info! Includes very nice scans of each year's brochure too.

I never knew that Syncros were skipped in '88.
Upon reading the table, the null data between '87 and '89 does stand out.

The 85 I owned if I remember properly was tagged on the pillar as an incomplete camper. Not a weekender
