Hi there

Can someone help me to found the nut that holds the stock steering wheel to the column ?

I've tried 3 different nuts from VWs providers and neither works.

Can tell me the thread size ? I have mesure it from the column itself and it looks like to be 18mm diameter.

Many thanks for your help.

Loïc

… try asking Bughaus.com - bet they have, what you need

Thanks for the info about bughaus but unfortunatly, they don't have the right one.

The column parts are there : https://www.bughaus.com/karmann23.htm

Nothing below 1960 ...

Anyone have a link to a resaler who have this ?

If someone have this part at home, I would be also interested in order to have only genuine parts ;-)

It's a 26mm nut with a shoulder on it. You might have better luck looking for one from a 56-59 Beetle. I checked the classifieds and nothing. Post a want add.

… okay, that's a coarse spline steering column-post - same thing used on bug batwing steering wheel (1949 -1955) and semi-batwing (1955-1959). Should be pretty common All my bugs use/used that one... i'll bet one can be found - i'll look too and let you know, what I find.

… okay - just looked in thesamba type 1, pre 1957 classifieds - printed the word "nut" in the subject line and looked at availability - looks like Kafer Nostalgie has one for sale for $16 - for split/oval Batwing.
I would inquire, if they have it first - if so, order it. I order from them all the time - good outfit, but on the high end, pricewise
Problem solved.

Sorry for my later reply, many thanks for your message, I have send him a message in order to check if it's still available.

Many thanks for your help.

Hi,

Thank you so much, this is really cool to take this pics for me, now it's really clear !

This is strange to see that this nut is difficult to found : this is just a nut !
