View original topic: Engine number sequence and what would be correct

I have a November 56 oval (57 bug).
Base on the body and chassis numbers: Body was made around 2nd week of month and Chassis was made around 4th week. Its a matching body and chassis due to the vin plate up front.

Engine is February... so wrong one.

My Question is: What approximate engine number would correspond with this bug? Would it be around 2nd week - 3rd week or 4th week?
Not being picky, but if a few options are available, then why not chose something close enough.
Thanks for your help and input

Also, I use to assume that the quantity of bodies, chasis and engines would have been pretty close in quantity per month. But having checked the numbers for November 56, there were: (if my math is correct).
26761 Bodies
30167 chasis
36,950 engines

Other than verts (But where did those bodies come from) I can assume some chasis and engines were used for the convertibles. But what about the rest of engines or chasis.
Just curious.
Thanks

I can't speak to Ovals specifically but on other cars I have seen with original engines, the engine # matched up within the same week as the VIN/Chassis #.

Ah ok...
Thanks Everett... Helps me narrow the search.

Honestly if you find the same month I think that is good but I wouldn't really want an engine from late in the month if you have something from early.

Since you say the chassis # is from the 4th week you have some leeway.

Check out these 2 threads too and see if they mention the chassis # and engine # to see how they fall in the charts on the site:

Ok....
I'd figured anything during third week or early 4th week would be ok.
Thanks for the links and advice
