I bought these yesterday at a swap, trying to identify them. Steel barrel, aluminum center. 15x5.5. No markings on them anywhere.
Kinda cool set of wheels, I think I'm going to powdercoat them white and put them on my wife's squareback.

Hello Matt,
Seen these at the Michigan BB Swap.
Alleycat Spoke Wheels are Aluminum Mag Wheels.
I started a tread ... " 4 Lug VW Shelby Diamondback Mag Wheels " that have a set of these posted.
https://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=729972
I pretty certain the wheels you have are Trans-American Products RADER Wheels named "Spider" 32 spokes as the similar style Aluminum Mag Wheels have 36 spokes.
I also didn't see any markings. Are you sure their 5.5" wide and not 5" ? |

Ok, it was hard to tell from the one picture I found if Alleycats had steel or aluminum barrels. If they are aluminum then the only other option I can find are the Transamericans as seen here:
http://www.buggyboys.be/en/velgen_4x130_01.htm
I looked at all of them very closely and cannot find any markings at all
I've not broken them down yet so it's completely possible they are 5". I bought them at the end of the day when we were packing up for less than half what he had on them.
I also picked up the set of Western 14x7 Cyclones for a pretty good deal. |

Hey Matt,
That buggyboys database hasn't been updated since 2005, good reference but a lot of wheels on there are incorrectly named.
Here's one for Vintage Wheels ... http://vintagewheelcatalogs.com/
Look at " RADER " Wheel Corp. of America 1965 which then became " Trans-American Products Ltd. " 1966.
Google Alleycat Crosspoke Wheels and you'll see their Aluminum Mag Wheels. |
