| My '85 Westy W/ 1.9 eng. has intermittent starting and intermittent poor idling, then dying issues. Sometimes she will start just fine and idle great, then won't start again after sitting for awhile (less than a day ) . Other times she starts after prolonged cranking . and idles very poorly and dies if I don't give 'er more gas. Have to have one foot on the gas and the other on the brake when I stop. It has happened that it started right up, idled fine and after a few miles the the poor idling/dying behavior set in. My first thought was water in the tank. Put a can of Seafoam in a half tank of gas and the next day, it started on the first crank and idle was perfect at 950 rpm . Day after, it wouldn't start until the 3rd attempt after having waited a couple of hours in between . Idle was ok. Any suggestions , please ? The box and canister fuel filters have recently been replaced. The box (pre filter) was loaded with rust .Any suggestions , much appreciated ! |
