Hey everyone.
I'm trying to find a close match for L87
I want to Powder coat my rims, but I can't find any matches in color.
I was looking at RAL 1013 "Oyster White"
which looks like this (in one pic)

but like this in another

and here is the sample color

https://www.powderbuythepound.com/ral-1013-oyster-white.html

It's very difficult to tell online, anyone ever use it?

I'm still searching
If anyone has any suggestions, please post up

if you have something already pearl white, take it to a paint store and ask for the RAL chart to compare the color. Then you can order the color in powder.

That's part of my problem- I don't lol
My car was L478 Beryl green when it was born, and had been painted at least 3 different colors over it's lifetime
maybe I can but an L87 glovebox door in the classifieds and try to match that.

Bus overhead vent covers are good too and they are usually not sun-damaged

Maybe more money though...

Here’s a test sample with the RAL 1013
No, it’s not exact
But it’s close
I’m using it in my rims and the engine tin
So,I think it could be close enough
I compared it to the inside of an original paint L87 glovebox lid

Inside lighting and it looks pretty good

But outside in the sun it’s a little too white

Just noticed this thread, so much for my searches.
I just ordered about 60 samples from Prismatic Powders for my 64.

They will custom match a color on special order, but it’s about $500 to start and I’m confident that something in a batch of 60 will be “really damn close.”

I had my wheels done about 5 years ago but the color was a hair too white. Then, I just rolled with it and tossed on some trim rings but I want to go back to the correct black centers and the trim rings have killed the powder finish on the rim edges. So time to strip them down and do it right.

Will post back as soon as I have a match.

Wow it looks great and makes me like my L87 that much more. The wheels look great too.

I got 60 color samples from Prismatic Powders today! Prismatic is cool in that they provide free color chips and all you have to do is pay shipping. I ordered all of the white and light gray variants they offer shy of getting their pearlescent colors because that would be fruitless.

It’s important to note that paint color will of course vary from car to car - my Pearl White may be a smidge different than that on someone else’s car.
With that out of the way…

Now, they do offer a “custom color match” program, where they will custom mix a powder based on a color sample provided. That said, the program costs $500 before you even buy the powder. If there were some folks who wanted to go in on it I would be happy to foot the project, but again it would be subjective to color variations on each of our cars.

So… the long awaited answer.
Based on the Prismatic options L87 is a very close match to
“Snowbird” PSS-1167
and
RAL9002
With my eye slightly favoring the RAL9002 in my garage light. I’ll see how the look in daylight tomorrow.

Any updates? I’m also looking to power coat my bumpers with a close match to L87. Let me know if anyone has came across a match
