I learned today that Matt, Mr. Motorhead has passed away. Anyone who met him, knew how much fun he was to be around. I first got to meet him at Bonneville and was one of those guys who made just being there special and a lot of fun. My condolences to his family and friends
Rest in Peace Matt.

I think it is that same guy.
I'm wondering what happened as I didn't think he was very old when I talked to him a few times at shows. |

I had heard he had been seriously ill for most of this year and the prospects didn't look good. I didn't like to ask at the time but Burly Burlile posted yesterday on FB he had sadly passed away.
I met Matt (Matthew Kenney) when we attended Bonneville "World of Speed" in 2011 and spent some time socialising...he was good company. I always carried an ad for him on The Judson Register, he was a committed and very knowledgeable "Vintage Speed" man...he was buying 36hp cases when everyone else was using them as doorstops. I often picked his brains for information and he always spared the time.
RIP Matt. :(
Not a very good picture but...

I remember in 2012 when Matt was dualing it out with another racer for the top speed in their class. Matt needed about a mile an hour for the record and did everything possible to his bus (above) and engine...... except pull off the huge roof rack he had on it that year. To Matt's amusement, it drove everyone nuts that he wouldn't take it off, he believed in run what you brung and in the end he ended up getting the speed he needed.

I never met or knew him, but I guess because of his work and passion on 36hp engines I still feel the loss. I was very sorry to hear of his passing.
Rest in peace Matt |

RIP, Mr. Motorhead.
I have a pair of Euro dual port 40Hp heads in my Type 14. I'll have to take it for a spin today and thank him again for his work. |

I am so sorry to hear of this sad news. I purchased some 36 hp parts from Matt when I was doing my 36 hp rebuild in 2011. Very knowledgeable and helpful man.

I found this on the Central Coast VW clubs facebook. I moved from the central coast in 2014 and knew Matt very well. I'm shocked and he was so much younger than I am.
A great guy to be sure.

So, with much trepidation, it's time to sell my truck. In about 4 to 6 months I'll no longer need it as I have terminal cancer. I thought I would offer it first here locally because it has alway been local for the last 37 years. 67 single cab,1904cc single port w/special geared large nut transmission for the 1904 cc. 70% tires,60% brakes. Paint is 80% original. Selling price $25k, runs/ drives good needs service sorry no negotiotins. Watch for more things over the comin days, I have all of my machines/inventoy/tools an equipment to liquidate. |

Thanks for that a very sad final farewell but I suppose we'd all like to, given the chance, put our house in order before we go.
Hope it went to a good home. |
