UPDATE about our Thing Shows. As you may have seen or heard. After our last update about Things West, Prado was canceled as of 5-13-2020. So we are still having our “cruise” now “Thing Tour 2020” on June 13th with help from our Thing friends in the East, Northeast and the Vintage Volkswagen Club of America. If you can join us meet at Hot VW’s at 9am. If you can’t, please cruise with your Thing and any friends on June 13th and post photos/vids on social media. It will be a Nationwide Thing Tour! In Nor Cal we will meet in the Bay Area and cruise down the coast as a group. Probably just the SF Bay Area sections of Highway 1. If you would like details, please contact me directly or check back here for details. I am working with several local Thing folks about how to handle this and what would be best for all.

We will be having a San Francisco Bay Area Type 181 Tour for Volks in Nor Cal and beyond. Times are certainly challenging and having a moment out in your favorite ride could help heal your wandering soul from all this shelter in place.
The supplemental event for Things West will be the Things Tour across America event June 13th 2020
This is officially sponsored by the Thing Registry and all affiliated groups.
The game plane for Nor Cal will be to gather and depart from Treasure Island. Being peripheral events have been problematic we will depart promptly at 9 am from Avenue A near Mersea Restraint on Treasure Island.

The group will gather next to the Bay and take a scenic picture with the two bridges, SF and Alcatraz Island in the background. We will then loop Treasure Island before departing towards San Francisco across the Bay Bridge to 80 then 101 to 280 down the coast to Pacifica. After a brief stop to regroup we will cruse down lovely Highway 1 to Half Moon Bay for another scenic stop for pictures before proceeding south to Pescadero. For those that need just a little more, we will then drive to Santa Cruz and end the event near the boardwalk. If all goes well the event should last just over 2 hours. Please come with a full tank and an empty bladder. Some snacks and water might also be a good idea. If we are lucky we might find some other fun distractions. Please stay tuned for details.

Special event announcement! The VW Thing Registry will have a limited amount of the below event magnetic aluminum laser engraved badges for the first few 181’s that show up at treasure Island this Saturday morning, so get there early. We leave at 9 am so have a full tank of gas and an empty bladder.
