Remember when people used to say “one of these days collectors are going to start appreciating these cars and the values are going to go up” I think those days are here at least for 71 and earlier convertibles. Nice ones, not the host of turds you see n the Samba classifieds, are starting to consistently get strong money. Maybe not enough to start restoring for profit, but getting closer.
Well, I hope so. I have what I think is a nice one and I hope the market catches up to what I paid for it ! [-o<
Until then, I will just enjoy the hell out of it 8) |

But the price to enter may start going up just as fast, if you don’t own one yet...
Thanks for the compliment!
I've thought about it from time to time. Hard to believe Sophia & I have been together 23 years. But I think I want to enjoy her a little bit more in retirement, which just started yesterday :D |

The Karmann Ghia TC is getting a bunch of love. Auction still has about 4 hrs. To go with a lot of watchers. It’s very nice but I’m more a fan of Brazil’s SP2.
UPDATE....
The TC ended up selling for $25k. I have no idea what the market is but I feel the buyer got a pretty good deal. It looks well sorted. |

That 56 was for sale here on The Samba not to long ago. Looks like the ad has been taken down. Maybe too many tire kickers!

The hubcaps seem to be 5-lug style on 4-lugs wheels :?
I kind of like it... Maybe.
IMO this one seems fairly solid. |

They're 4 lug smoothie hubcaps. They came out several years ago. You can get em at jbugs, cip1, etc. I ran them on my old 67. I think they look better in conjunction with beauty rings

The BAT Ghia has VW emblems.
Surfed a bit. The only ones I found with emblems were stainless steel. CIP1 |

The seller had that car on The Samba for $12k and it didn’t sell. I bet he’s pleased as punch to get $21k. |

How did this 72 survive in this condition in the Mich & PA?
It doesn't seem to be restored.

Obviously has low miles on it, likely seldom driven in crappy weather or in the winter and garaged. The interior is amazing.
It’s already up to $7500 which is about what most people on the Samba would assume is it’s total value. It’s great to see the
later model cars getting real respect on BAT. |

That's true.... I wonder if a) the people that are happy running the 009 never experienced the true "get up and go" from the usual SVDA dizzy, or rather b) the difference between the two is rather marginal and can only be felt if driven back to back....
Even if the stock air cooled engines are no power houses by a long way, I was astounded by the amount of usable torque available as soon as you open the throttle. But then again, I never experienced a 009 #-o
Sorry for jacking the topic, just wantet to get my 2 cents in. Of course it's wrong, but by how much, who are we to judge :P |

That 71 is not that nice, has a cheap interior, notice the fronts lack the basket weave insert and instead are all basket weave, no carpet on the front kicks just black rhino liner, black headliner, Cheap carpet kit, terrible paint job, and a color change.
That 72 is a nice original interior car, it is still unclear to me about the paint if it’s original or not but I’m guessing not.
Ghia are hot now on BAT but only nice ones, interesting to see how this one does. |
