I searched but didn't see anything about rear bumper brackets that are correct. I have the three piece ones but they are offset on one side. It looks like the two piece ones would be centered. Which are correct for a 57?

Two, the three came later.

I believe all ram protection-equipped cars came with the three-piece rear brackets. My '55 parts car had a very rusty set that I think was original.
You are correct in that the two-piece brackets are centered in the fender holes, assuming the rear fenders are the correct pre-'60 design. |

I took it apart so long ago and it had aftermarket fenders. Never even paid attention to them being different, the brackets. |

I thought the same thing, american spec was three. Either way I’ll have to use two. The bracket on the body and the fender are originals. |

Can anyone advise which year (and month) specifically that VW switched over from 2 to 3 leaves. I thought it was after October of 1952.
Thanks in advance to the VW community. |
