I searched but didn't see anything about rear bumper brackets that are correct. I have the three piece ones but they are offset on one side. It looks like the two piece ones would be centered. Which are correct for a 57?

Two, the three came later.

I believe all ram protection-equipped cars came with the three-piece rear brackets. My '55 parts car had a very rusty set that I think was original.

You are correct in that the two-piece brackets are centered in the fender holes, assuming the rear fenders are the correct pre-'60 design.

I took it apart so long ago and it had aftermarket fenders. Never even paid attention to them being different, the brackets.

I thought the same thing, american spec was three. Either way I’ll have to use two. The bracket on the body and the fender are originals.

Can anyone advise which year (and month) specifically that VW switched over from 2 to 3 leaves. I thought it was after October of 1952.

Thanks in advance to the VW community.
