View original topic: Who sells Grey replacement laminate for Truckfridge TF49?

Need cut to fit. I recall GW or VC had it, but can’t find via searches (further complicated by only having my phone at the moment). The black gets rippin’ hot in the morning when the sun is low and shines into the van. TIA.

I got mine from GoWesty.

Not cut to fit, just a roll.

Louis from Rhino Designs says there isn't an exact match but I just got an AC fascia from him and the grey looks the same as the original Westy grey laminate.

Also, from a 2012 post...

It is Formica product Number 927-58. The name of the colour is "Folkstone" and it is in the matte finish. You can order it through any Home Despot. I got mine for $80 CAD for a 4' x 8' sheet since I have some other projects in mind for this stuff.

For the darker plastic edge trim (and anything else you want to make the darker grey of the cushion strip trim, the following SEM products work nicely:
1. SEM 38353 Plastic/Leather prep;
2. SEM 17123 GM Light Gray plastic "flexible coating paint
3. SEM 13013 Satin Gloss Clear coat

This is Formica 927-58 "Folkstone" in matte finish.
It's close, but there is a slight difference as you can see in the pic.

Here are a couple other threads closely related to this subject:

I used that Folkstone laminate and it is a 98% match.

In this pic it looks brighter because it has a little more sheen that the tired formica on the original. To my eye it is an acceptable match.

I actually have a good sized sheet of it that I purchased from Louis, but I don't have the tools necessary to properly cut it to size. The laminate is hard to work with.

Scribe it with a drywall knife & break it over a straight corner.
Then file it or belt-sand it.
It can be cut pretty rough and its all behind the door margin.

Scribing front & back makes a very clean break.
Which will be hidden too.
But when you scribe both sides you know the break isn’t gonna go wild.

Carbide tip laminate knife at any hardware store. Scribe and break. I buy full sheets and cut it down to size with a knife and straight edge.

I can cut it all the way through with a large boxer cutter. About a 1/2 inch blade. Snap off a clean one and it takes about 5 passes to get it done. I work on the garage floor to get leverage. And yes then sand the edge a tiny bit to trim to an exact fit.

Thanks for all the advice, I'm gonna' go for it..... as soon as I get the Syncro back from GTA; I just dropped it off yesterday to get all new custom gearing. Pick up in 2 weeks.

I'll have to look and see which laminate I used for my custom cabinet. Pionite brand, Folkstone Grey or Mercury color. I'll look for the right color name tonight.
