Not strictly a Vanagon topic but I value all yin’s opinions more than VW vortex etc. Also this seems to be a popular engine to u$e and is the first turbo I’ve owned.
Our 2017 Alltrack with said engine often, but not always, blows clouds of white smoke when stomping on the gas pedal during “spirited driving”. Even after well warmed up (an hour of highway driving). I took it to the dealer last year and they couldn’t replicate the problem. I was able to make it happen on the drive home from their shop.
My plan is to video it and take the car back but I’m wondering what it could be. Cracked cylinder head gasket dumping coolant under high loads or do turbos just burn oil or something else frequently? |

I love the TSI, I haven't owned one but it reads like a work of art! I really want one in the van.
I'm suspect of water, either produced from the cat or possibly being scavenged from the engine itself through the evap system??
Does it ever clear up, "the spirited stab" vs. a "spirited session"?
Is it consuming coolant? |
