X2 on checking with your insurance carrier.

I use air only for pressure bleeding. Applied by attaching a bicycle inner tube to the top of the reservoir...

Then applying modest pressure (say 10-12 psi or so):

Ron, how much pressure was being applied? I only go to around 10 psi and never needed more. I do 2-3 brake flushes a week too.

Yes, only 10 psi on a Motive Bleeder.

This was another expensive lesson to learn the hard way. I managed to save most of the instrument cluster. All the mounting tab locations are no longer there. Using large flat washers I am able to mount it up again. The plastic clips that hold the switches in the cluster have also broken off.

Most all of the vents and other plastic covers have been destroyed. Any old stress areas will have cracked into pieces. So I am now on the hunt for all new plastic on the dash. I removed the dash and cleaned up all the wiring. Luckily the air box came out pretty unscathed.

I did get the rear cushion cleaned up but the drivers side Recaro base is heavily damaged. I washed it with Dawn and lots of water to get the brake fluid out of the seams and foam backing. But the leather surface is toast in a couple spots.

I am already beginning to purchase replacement parts. They are rare to find in good condition and are expensive. Some from Europe.

If anyone knows of a parts van with good dash plastic, let me know.

EDIT: My Lucky and Unlucky Day...

I found a 1989 tin top at Pic a Part right here in Orem. I found a bunch of the plastic I needed, someone already took the cluster, but did not have the tools to pull the dash. So I bought what I could for $30. Went home to get tools, came back and while I was gone they hauled the "Hippy Van" back and crushed it! :cry: There were so many good parts left. :cry: :cry: :cry:

I have everything back in place. Back to Black and Lexol made the plastic look normal again. I used plastic polish on it first.

Only the leather on the Recaro seat still shows my lesson in life.
